Pacu Jawi

Photosafari, once again, is organising a photosafari trip to shoot the bull racing (Pacu Jawi) in Padang. This is a short 3 days and 2 night’s trip to Padang, Indonesia. The excitement of witnessing a pair of bulls rushing towards you is exhilarating. It is an adrenaline rush as you try to avoid being run over by the bulls. There is nowhere safe in the water filled rice fields where the event is held.

Pacu Jawi used to be an event that is held after the rice is harvested. Farmers would bring their young bulls to sell at this festival. They would often hire jockeys to ride the bulls and buyers would come around to pick and buy their bulls for their next rice planting season. However, in this modern times, this social event is held for visitors and the kampong folks to gather around.

We will not only shoot this Pacu Jawi event. There are many things to shoot around this vicinity.
