PMPE 13, Autumn Silk Route 2011 PhotoSafari from 15th to 31st October 2011

This PhotoSafari Autumn Silk Route Tour is back by popular demand after last year’s  successful trip to the ancient Silk Route. This time we are going on the Southern Silk Route but taking a slightly different route. We intend to skip Xian and Dunhuang and that give us substantial savings. We will be flying directly to Urumqi from Chengdu instead of going to Xian and Dunhuang.

From Urumqi we will be chartering a bus. Yes a bus large enough to allow an extra seat for each participant. We have the flexibility of stopping at various places of interests as and when we see the potential of good photographs. Our bus will take us from Urumqi to Turpan on the old road, passing through grasslands and quaint towns. From Turpan we will travel to Korla, Kuche, Aksu, Kashgar, Hetian and finally flying back to Urumqi. The next day we will fly from Urumqi to Chengdu to end the tour.

This is a photography tour. We will try to avoid a few touristy places and shopping. The food along the way is mainly halal food and the majority of the populace here are Muslims.
